Welcome to the Legal Services Board

We are the independent body responsible for overseeing the regulation of lawyers in England and Wales. Our goal is to reform and modernise the legal services market place by putting the interests of consumers at the heart of the system, reflecting the objectives of the statute that created us, the Legal Services Act 2007.

We share our regulatory objectives with the ‘approved regulators’ of the legal profession, each of which have direct responsibility for the day-to-day regulation of the different types of lawyers.

Please note that we cannot intervene in any new or ongoing complaint or dispute you may have with a lawyer. All service complaints about lawyers should be directed to the Legal Ombudsman. Please also note, the LSB does not deal with any legal aid queries and all legal aid matters should be directed to the Legal Aid Agency.

Understanding Changes in Prices of Legal Services 2017
The LSB has commissioned OMB Research to conduct research fieldwork to understand how the prices of legal services change over time. If you have been contacted by OMB Research and have any questions about the research please contact Meera Amin at the LSB on 02072710044, or, or Gemma Bird at OMB Research on 01732220582.
