Bill Moyes (Member - lay)
Bill is a trustee of the Nuffield Trust, a non-executive Director of the Office of Fair Trading, an Associate of the Institute for Government and an adviser to a number of commercial and voluntary organisations. From 2003-2010, he was Executive Chairman of Monitor, the independent regulator of NHS Foundation Trusts. Bill was Director-General of the British Retail Consortium from 2000-2003 and Head of Infrastructure Investments at the Bank of Scotland. He joined the British Linen Bank (a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank of Scotland) in 1994. Before that, he held a variety of posts in the Scottish Office and Whitehall as a senior civil servant, including three years in the Economic Secretariat of the Cabinet Office and four years as Director of Strategy for the NHS in Scotland.
Bill was born and educated in Scotland and has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh.
