Welcome to the Legal Services Board

Update as at 10:00 Tuesday 14 April

Due to the major incident and fires in the Holborn area on Wednesday 1 April, our office on Kemble Street is not fully operational. The fires destroyed telephony and data cables.

Normal LSB email addresses and LSB telephone numbers are working, although these are all being routed to colleagues working remotely. Our general number remains 020 7271 0050 but we would appreciate it if you would call individuals direct. Email addresses and contact numbers for individual LSB colleagues can be found here.

Whilst colleagues are not yet based in the building, we do have access and so meetings scheduled to take place at Kemble Street can proceed.

We expect telephony and data cables to be restored by Monday 20 April.

We are the independent body responsible for overseeing the regulation of lawyers in England and Wales. Our goal is to reform and modernise the legal services market place by putting the interests of consumers at the heart of the system, reflecting the objectives of the statute that created us, the Legal Services Act 2007.

We share our regulatory objectives with the ‘approved regulators’ of the legal profession, each of which have direct responsibility for the day-to-day regulation of the different types of lawyers.

Please note that we cannot intervene in any new or ongoing complaint or dispute you may have with a lawyer. All service complaints about lawyers should be directed to the Legal Ombudsman. Please also note, the LSB does not deal with any legal aid queries and all legal aid matters should be directed to the Legal Aid Agency.
