Welcome to the Legal Services Board
We are the independent body responsible for overseeing the regulation of lawyers in England and Wales. Our goal is to reform and modernise the legal services market place by putting the interests of consumers at the heart of the system, reflecting the objectives of the statute that created us, the Legal Services Act 2007.
We share our regulatory objectives with the ‘Approved Regulators’ of the legal profession, each of which have direct responsibility for the day-to-day regulation of the different types of lawyers.
We will add more content to this website as we build our organisation and develop our work programme. In the meantime, we hope that it provides all of the information you need about our work and us. If you have any feedback, we would welcome hearing from you.

Please note that we cannot intervene in any new or ongoing complaint or dispute you may have with a lawyer. All service complaints about lawyers should be directed to the Legal Ombudsman.
