Data on legal service providers
2019 Individuals’ legal needs survey: A nationally representative sample of 28,633 of the general public people gave information about 34 different types of legal issues based upon data collected online. For info on how to use the data please contact Research@legalservicesboard.org.uk
2017 Prices survey: Telephone survey of 1,491 legal services providers carried out between January and May 2017.
2017 ABS survey: Online survey of 204 ABS, carried out between December 2016 and February 2017.
2017 Assessment of legal services in Wales compared to England: The LSB has run a comparison of the legal services market in England and Wales in response to the commission of justice in Wales.
2016 public access barristers: Online and telephone survey of 404 public access barristers, carried out between December 2015 and February 2016.
2016 prices of common legal services: Telephone survey of 1,506 business providing legal services in at least one of the following areas: residential conveyancing, divorce, lasting power of attorney, probate, estate administration, and wills. Fieldwork conducted between November 2015 and January 2016.
2015 innovation in legal services data set: Joint LSB and SRA research into levels of innovation in legal services, capabilities for and barriers to innovation.
2015 survey of views on the cost of regulation: Online survey with 967 responses from those regulated as entities and those regulated as individuals, October – December 2014.
2013 ABS survey data: Online survey of ABS licence holders, July – August 2013.
Data Platform 2010: LSB compiled data set combining professional membership lists and socio-geographic information, summarised to local authority level to enable analysis of the regulated community as whole.
Data on consumers’ of legal services
2017 survey of small business legal needs (Zipped) and 2013, 2015, and 2017 surveys merged (Zipped): Survey of small business consumers’ experience of and response to legal problems. Weighted sample of 10,579 small business owners or managers in England & Wales, online survey carried out in March 2017.
2015 survey of individuals’ handling of legal issues in England and Wales (SPSS): Survey of 8,192 adults experience of and response to legal problems. Online survey, fieldwork conducted October – December 2015.
2015 Small Business data set (SPSS) or 2015 Small Business data set (Excel): Survey of small business consumers’ experience of and response to legal problems. Weighted sample of 10,528 small business owners or managers in England & Wales, online survey carried out in March 2015.
2014-15 survey of consumers experiences of divorce CSV file: Telephone post event and real time survey of 184 divorce petitioners. Fieldwork conducted between April 2014 and January 2015.
2013 Consumers valuation of regulation Excel Data or 2013 Consumers valuation of regulation SPSS Data: Online survey of individuals who have considered taking or would consider taking legal advice, in relation to immigration, will writing, conveyancing, or social welfare. Weighted sample of 2,545 adults. Fieldwork conducted between 25th September and 22nd October 2012.
2013 Small Business data set (SPSS) or 2013 Small Business data set (Excel): Survey of small business consumers’ experience of and response to legal problems. Weighted sample of 9,703 small business owners or managers in England & Wales, online survey carried out in December 2012.
2012 Individual consumer data (excel) or 2012 Individual consumers survey data (spss): Survey of individual consumers’ experience of and response to legal problems. Weighted sample of 4,017 individual adults in the UK, online survey carried out between 5-16 January 2012.
